Why do some doctors refuse to perform reproductive sterilization surgeries if they deem you “too young”?

I'm not making it muddy. Doctors are.

I'm making it black and white.

If a doctor argues that it's "risky" to the patient and the patient might change their mind are valid reasons to deny sterilization then, rationally, if we're just accepting that as fact...pregnancy should be discouraged just as strongly because it is factually more dangerous than not being pregnant, people also regret becoming parents, and there are no give backs. So, rationally, if that's really why doctors discourage and refuse sterilization they should equally strongly oppose pregnancy. Assuming there is no other bias. Which, clearly there is. And clearly doctors aren't equitable and fair in their assessments. That's obvious anecdotally and from data.

This is why doctors aren't respected in the US. They want to talk about how they're educated etc. But then they don't use their education. They use their personal opinion.

Medically speaking the danger of pregnancy is far, far greater than sterilization. So any doctor just using their education isn't going to say no to sterilization.

The lawsuit thing is just an excuse. Again, I worked for a trial lawyer doing med mal cases. Show me a case that someone won strictly because they changed their mind later. I'd love to see it if it exists. No other complications. Just because someone changes their mind.

Plastic surgeons do all kinds of questionable, regrettable procedures that might legitimately cause medical issues... doesn't stop them does.

The lawsuit thing is a cover. It's just so doctors don't have to confront their own personal biases in this situation.

Good night.
