Some friends just started a handmade design collective & workshop. They're launching their first collection, check 'em out!

So mass production is superior? At what point is it not about the art, and only about the end product? If people want the same shit as everyone else, no one would call it art. That's what this is about. They are taking the art of ceramics, applying it to one stage of the process (design) and then removing it from the rest. There is no art in making the same slip cast cup over and over again, man. There just isn't.

I'm not sure what you mean by "complex" but I never heard anyone talk about the definition of "handmade", when it came to ceramics until someone misused it.

If the hand builder is putting the leaves in the same place, on the same pieces then of course they are a hypocrite, but I don't know of a single hand builder that does that.

Decals can be cool if you used right. If you put the same decal of a giraffe on everything you make, then you are a sell out. If you match your forms with your decals then sweet. If you use decals because you don't know how to do anything else then...... Maybe you should call yourself a graphic artist, not a potter.
