Some live tournament questions from a cash game rec player...

15min levels live, esp starting with only 100bb, is equivalent to a super turbo online. So just something to keep in mind.

at the end of the first hour, i built up my stack to around 15k... do you always add on here? blinds are going to be 200/400 after the add on... at what stack size would you consider not adding on?

@15k is an easy addon, I would consider not adding on if it was <10-15% of my stack.

question 2: folds to villian who has a TAG image, doesn't play too many pots but makes big bets when he does, especially pre flop... has only shown very strong hands... saw hero earlier reraise in the SB against a villian who opens wide... raises to 1100 on the button, hero is in SB with 7c[1] 8c[2] ... is it ok to raise/fold here if villian has a 12k stack? how much would you raise to if raising is ok? or is calling or folding much better?

If your read on him is "only plays strong hands" than raising him here is pretty bad. The problem with 3b in this spot in such a short tournament is that you are either raising small enough for him to justify flatting, in which case you are oop with initiative and what's usually going to be a bad hand, or you raise large enough to price yourself into a call if/when he 4b shoves. Both scenarios are bad.

fast forward to final table, hero has biggest stack, around 1/3 chips in play with 5 players... blinds are 8k/16k... hero has around 180k, villian (same guy as above) has around 100k in the BB... folds to hero on button, he has A6o

A6 w/ 6bb effective stacks is a very easy shove.

payouts at 5 players left were $2500, $1600, $900, $700, $600... stack sizes were 210k, 170k, 100k, 70k, 60k... hero had biggest stack but told the table he was ok with $1900... given the blinds were 8k/16k, hero felt there was no guarantee of finishing first... didn't have an ICM calculator but just did it now and it says around $1580 so I guess $1900 is not bad... would you ever consider going for 1st place?

Your getting 120% of your ICM in a hyper turbo where the average stack left is 7.5bb? Easy take. No reason to not know your ICM, just use your phone.
