Some managers would treat their human workers this way, if they could: Carriage horses are worked to deadly levels of exhaustion everyday and then packed into concrete facilities overnight so tightly they can’t even move or lie down.

The biggest problem isn’t how the guy is getting the horse up, it’s how the hell did he allow it to get to this point. Horses generally don’t just lie down in full tack like this. I’ve known a couple that would roll with saddles on if they thought they could get away with it but they were quick to get up because they were just benign cheeky. A horse that’s getting it’s butt slapped that hard or mouth pulled on that much that doesn’t get up is in a serious state of exhaustion.

Once they go down like this though, you HAVE to get them up by whatever means possible because the longer they’re down the more dangerous it is for them and the less likely they are to survive. Does anyone know what happened to him?
