Why do some murder or disappearing person cases get significantly more coverage than others?

I dont want to just say you're wrong here or anything but that does come off as a bit insulting, ive had native family members go missing. Their mothers and fathers begged for coverage, tried to get anyone to take notice and honestly a lot of the time we can't even get a proper investigation or something even close to what happened with this case. A lot of the time no one gets answers, in a lot of places in the United States natives account for a fifth of homicide victims or higher despite being 3% of the states population or lower. Closest we get is sometimes someone makes a documentary on the missing indigenous women of America and they come and ask the families questions but nothing really changes. I could talk about it more but honestly there's a plethora of information out there on the phenomenon and is readily available with a quick Google search. These families are putting in just as much effort as the petito family did or more even i promise you.
