Why do some people buy book after book in a genre and always leave one star reviews? Kink Shame

I had interpreted the author's blog post to mean that her 1-star reviews were coming from the same people- people who were reading through her entire catalog, and then felt guilty about the fact that they were interested in such types of books, and left low ratings out of their own guilt. I suppose one would have to read through all of her one star reviews and list the reviewers names, etc. to see if this is true.

As to the content of her stories, my understanding was that she writes in the "dark romance" and "BDSM" genres. We've had threads about this before- in romance stories authors can get away with things that they never could in erotica because romance takes the time to get deeply involved in the emotions and characters BUT ...sometimes even dark romance can go too far. I would assume that a USA today bestselling author knows where that line is, and knows how to stay on the safe side of it. Without reading the book in question, I don't know whether the negative reviews are accurate or overly sensitive-- after all, similar objections were raised regarding FSOG, and readers and critics differed wildly as to whether Christian and Ana had a romantic or abusive relationship.
