Some thoughts as an autistic Cascadian. Eco-autism and do autistic lives matter?

I was thinking how in many ways the destruction of the biosphere and the destruction of people with autism are connected as I've noticed many people on the spectrum hold environmental issues as very dear and personal and empathize with the plight of animals. People want to destroy the wilderness because they perceive it as not being "useful", much like people with autism are thought of as being a burden on society because their mode of existence doesn't "fit" the capitalist, patriarchal neurotypical mold of what an acceptable way to live is.

The environment and animals and other life is being destroyed by pollution of all kinds. Meanwhile, people with autism are being slowly destroyed by noise and light pollution and the domestication into neurotypical social culture that capitalism demands.

Animals and people with autism are both tormented by neurotypical people for fun and games, because they're perceived as being unfeeling and useless. Hell science finally admits animals feel empathy yet they still don't believe autistic people do.

Indigenous children are being colonized into white society, having their culture and language taken away from them by threat of violence, accused of being primitive and inferior, and often being separated from their parents. Indigenous people were drugged with alcohol which further hurt their minds and bodies.

Autistic children are also being colonized - into neurotypical society. Our culture and language, our view of the world is seen as a disease that needs to be eradicated; a plague on humanity. We are seen as a disease, much like gay people were by straight society prior to 1990. Autistic kids are taken away from their parents and put in institutions every day. We're given (or forced) drugs that destroy our bodies and our dignity and personalities.

My kind is still being burned as witches in Cameroon. People with autism understand on some level that for us the Inquisition never ended. I suspect many of the people burned for witchcraft and heresy were on the spectrum considering that we tend to be drawn to paganism and the majority of autistics reject conventional religion.

China killed off the last baiji dolphin about 6 or 7 years ago because they prioritized industrialization above all else. I would say the same negligence is making people with autism slowly go extinct.
