Someone who just said they took a bunch of pills. Is there anyone here that can help

It's not like that. Even in third world countries, many people believe life is sacred, and it has nothing to do with God for most people. It's just because they care.

The thing that bothers me isn't that someone cares or would want to check on me to make sure I'm okay.

It's the way that people do it. Have you ever had someone call the police to come to your house because you were suicidal? you don't have any choice. They force you to come with them, alone, where you're likely placed in a mental ward or psych floor, stripped of everything you have, including any way to contact someone, and probaby forced to stay there, no matter what you say, for two or three days. If the doctors don't think you're "better" (read: not suicidal), you might be kept there longer...away from any friends, any family, any support or comfort outisde of that hospital. You might be forcibly drugged. Eventually, you're let go (unkess you get sent to an inpatient place against your will for several weeks) and sent home with a huge hospital bill that you never even asked to be treated at.

The problem isn't that people want to help or save someone. It's that they decide that when someone is suicidal, they are incapable or unworthy of making their own decisions. Suicidal people (some with other "mental illnesses" too) are the only group of people in most countries that are not considered competent enough to make their own decision.

Think of it this way. You're emotionally vulnerable. you're in enormous emotional pain, so much that you want to be dead, maybe even so severe that you want to end your own life. You decide to trust someone. To confide in them for support and help. And instead, you are forcibly removed from your home, all your possessions are taken from you, and you are held in a place you don't know with people you don't know, given drugs without your permission, and held there without your consent.

Now, sometimes I think this helps. Some people find that they apprecaited that someone called EMS for them.

But many, many times, it makes you feel worse, because you probably felt helpless before, and now you've realized that people can just take you, put you somewhere you don't wanna be, and you can't do a thing to stop it......except not tell anyone the next time.

And that's what many people do. They realize (I did), that if we tak about our problems, we aren't considered able to make our own decisions. We get treated differently.

heck, even the mods here, who have decades of training in suicide prevention, have decided that since they don't have access to IP information, they will never report anything we tell them on here to the authorities or anyone else unless you explicity ask them to. Even if I post or message the mods that i have taken a fatal dose of poison, or have put a loaded gun to my head and am about to pull the trigger, the mods will not report me, notify the authorities, or any such thing.

And that right there---that's one of the most significant reasons i am still here. Because i can trust this place and this place believes that **even if I am committing suicide this moment, I should be allowed to make that choice, and that I am rational enough to make it.
