Someone I know who I would say is fairly intelligent is so strongly against vaccinations, is a believer covid 19 is a hoax and basically worships all the Qanon conspiracy theories and I just don’t get it

Dealing with the same. I’m embarrassed I dated this person now. I’ve sent him stories of men like himself dying from covid because they didn’t believe it is real. It really seems like a very entitled, privileged, white male attitude coupled with low intelligence and the ability to be easily influenced. White men seem especially threatened with losing their position in society the last few years and I’ve seen a few go alt right. It seems insecure men will resort to adopting any viewpoint that reinforces their position as top of the social hierarchy, no matter if it’s Fox News, Trump, etc. My ex used to be “radical” now he’s alt right. I can’t associate with him anymore.
