Because its point for point a copy of a movie told by a scientist at a party who probably doesnt have anything interesting to say to anyone who isnt also a scientist. Hes drunk and telling a story, something relating to his field, his favourite movie to some sap eating it up. He probably went home and laughed his ass off at the fact some drunk guy thought his story based on this movie was real.

Im not denying any of it, it very well could be true. The most simple basis of an explanation though, based entirely on the fact the story and movie line up perfectly, is that it was some guy fucking with a drunk guy at a party which happens all the fucking time when your sitting around drinking.
