Is something in my house?

I live in a 110 year old family house now, that as been rumored to be haunted for years. Both my husband and I are huge skeptics, but there has been a ton happening in this house we can't ignore. So some advice.. at least what has worked for us.

Announce yourself. introduce yourself. explain why you are living there, how you are there to tend to and care for the house. and don't just say it - mean it. care for the house. keep it clean, repair it, and update it as needed. If you do major changes explain out loud why you are doing that. For us the bigger problem is introducing family items pasted down to us.. my husband's family who lived here before tend to get really upset seeing their sons or sisters things in our house, a sign they too have past. I lost 99% of one aunts things gifted to me because of that. But even remodels or new paint can cause upset, and if you're not family, you need to give your intentions when moving in.

You can burn sage as that's the old go to, but I was raised with burning spiced incenses. I usually do cinnamon as that was traditional in my family, but I also really love the smell of clove, so most of my candles tend to be clove. High quality matters here, cheap candles and incenses smells like a migraine.
