I think something is trying to possess me.

I've had very similar dream experiences. I don't think it's possession at all. I described my experiences as my mind telling itself that I can't fly in the real world so I can't do it here in the dream. It was most common for me when I would jump from a height and float, then become afraid of hitting the ground even though I was floating/flying/leaping into the air. The tingly sensation accompanied by fear was experienced in nearly every case in memory. Our brains are built in a way that we can have voices that don't seem like us, but in fact are in our minds. Call it intuition, the voice of God, or spirits. It's been going on as long as we can document.

These experiences, as well as dreams of demons pursuing me all ceased after I had a series of lucid dreams over a few years in which I actively confronted the things that were bothering me in said dreams. These were: screaming like a lion in the face of a ghoulish demon that was chasing me through a sewer/tunnel and demanding it's name, facing down and literally killing sprite-like tormentors, and finally getting into hand to hand combat with an H. R. Geiger Alien and going full hulk rage-mode on it and tearing it in half. Anger wins in these dreams for me. After those three dreams, over the course of a year or two, my nightmares have dropped from almost every night to almost never. It's like I finally satisfied my subconscious's fear of how I would respond to such a situation. Light sleep dreams are generally sexual or based on tasks that we repeat frequently. Deep sleep dreams are generally very surreal, abstract projections of "what if crazy shit happened" situations. Our dreams either reinforce things that we depend on for survival or they prepare us for things we are unfamiliar with. Having a dream where you fly/float and then are suddenly under gravity is very common. It's like your brain is going agent Smith style in your dream checking your creative mind with the forces of physics that don't really apply there. Its your own mind saying "what if I was flying" and then immediately saying to itself "I would be falling".

If you can't science them away, then remember that by your own faith you can't be harmed by such beings. Remember that NOTHING can harm your spirit besides your own actions and that those can be forgiven. The less you acknowledge spirits the less they will try to get your attention.

If you feel like something negative is in your home, then burn some sage while walking from room to room and keep your mental state as serene as possible. If you don't meditate then it's okay. Just carry the thoughts of home, security, comfort, love, and Christ's happy, loving, and childlike bliss in your heart and mind while doing this. If you have trouble doing this then imagine you are in church or with family at one of those times where you really feel fellowship and the Spirit. Do you get waht I'm saying here? It's hard to explain.

By the words of the Bible, humans are the most powerful beings in existence besides our Lord Himself and that nothing exists, but by the grace of God. There is nothing but what is contained within Him and we are his stewards and vassals in all things here and afterward.
