Sony Admits PS4 First-Party Lineup This Year Is "a Little Sparse"

Persona 5 has no release date - people are hoping it's 2016.

Ratchet and Clank redux has no release date outside of "Spring 2016".

I don't know where you got "my" criteria from, considering I already said I was using yours. "quality games on a AAA budget".

Zoo Tycoon didn't have a AAA budget, nor was it "quality".

The very fact that you have images like that to link to not only emboldens your fanboyism even more, but also shows lack of knowledge on why that was the case for PS3/360.

I already told you why it was. The same reason PS4/XB1 is in this situation now.

Last gen, Microsoft pumped out exclusives at the start because they were first out the gate and needed people to buy their system. It worked. They got the sales lead ahead of Sony, and took their foot off the gas because they felt they didn't need to spend money on games to get people to buy the system anymore.

At the same time, Sony were on the back foot. Less sales, launching a year late and with a console that many developers said was hard to develop for in comparison to 360. So what happened? Sony threw everything they had at first party content. And it paid off. They had an incredible list of games towards the end of the lifespan.

This gen, the roles are reversed. Sony has the major sales lead, thus they're not putting money into first party as much as they did last gen (not only because of this reason I'm explaining, but also because they're hemorrhaging money globally outside of the Playstation brand).

Microsoft this time around have the console which developers can't get 1080p out of on a regular basis, and is far behind in sales. Thus, as with Sony last gen, Microsoft are pumping every dollar they have into first party titles and second party deals to bring more games to Xbox.

You cannot possibly try to say that this is a trend for Sony "playing the long game". PS1 and PS2 had a great range of first and second party titles throughout the lifespan of the systems. What you're doing is twisting history to fit your clearly fanboy narrative, and so this conversation is over.

I'm sorry I was ever naive enough to believe a gaming subreddit could be adult enough to discuss facts without people throwing phrases like "salt" around.

Goodbye.
