Sophy Ridge on Sunday: Jeremy Hunt says everyone will have to pay higher taxes - but richest will make larger sacrifices

I don't know exactly where I stand in terms of tax (I'm a freelancer working PAYE, and for a short period I was being taxed as if I was earning >£100k, which really hurt at the time).

But whatever is a fair amount for me to pay, I will pay it.

What drives me up the wall is that over the course of my job I've been inside of the fancy homes of people living in Bloomsbury and Chelsea, who have held jobs on a similar pay rate to what I was earning. But they are a bunch of feckless rich kids with gorgeous houses (that act as assets that they can leverage financially), with empty rooms and fridges dedicated to vintage wine. Whilst I'm struggling to pay rent in a shared flat with a load of other educated professionals who're in the same boat as me.

It is clear that for our generation performing well in a traditionally well compensated industry is not enough to achieve these things.

You've got to have generational wealth.

We need to tax high earners more, but we also have to tax assets.
