Sorry, I’m too smart to be kind to a friend in their time of need

"I am far too philosophical to console you"

Spoken by someone who doesn't know anything about actual philosophy. Even the Stoics said something a long the lines of "Grieve with them on the outside" (I'm not sure which Stoic philosopher it was -I only know Stoicism- but I think it was Seneca) . Hell, all of what we have left of Seneca is him giving advice and consoling friends through letters.

"You need to remember that death is a natural part of our cycle."

Okay okay, but even the philosopher emperor cried when a loved one died. Yeah death isn't something to be feared but expecting someone not to mourn is a twat move. "Be tolerant with others but strict with yourself". Don't hold people up to the high standards that an actual philosopher would (E.G not you)

Lastly I'm not smart by any means, I have several learning disabilities and am autistic in addition. But even I'm not dense enough to realize that if someone goes to you to complain and rant about life/inform you of bad news. They are not looking for advice or comfort. Chances are they're looking for someone to grieve with/rant with.

P.S What is it with people calling themselves a robot? Last month my girlfriend broke up with me and told me "I don't love you, I've been forcing myself. I don't love anyone I'm just a robot" (No joke). So is there a reason people are saying this?
