Sources: 19 Austin police officers indicted in protest probe

The point is that cops know that there is a chance on every single call, no matter how minor or routine it is, something could go wrong and they won’t make it home. So yes, I imagine they’re always on edge, always nervous or scared when someone charges at them or resists arrest. It’s not just “oh. This person doesn’t want to go to jail.” But also “How desperately? Enough to kill me?”

Truckers have a more dangerous job than cops. Hopefully they know the risk and take precautions. But they can't just do whatever they want to make their own job safer -- if truckers started running cars off the road so they'd get more room to drive, we'd all see that as a ridiculous step.

Cops should not be able to just kill people because they've been taught to be afraid. It's a terrible system.
