Sources: Acting US ambassador to China quit over Trump climate decision

I do a considerable amount of research about Donald Trump and his administration, as my user history demonstrates. I also know a good deal about China, having travelled there several times for extensive periods. I lived much of my childhood abroad for parents who worked in the foreign service.

Trump picked Branstad like he did many people in the top levels of his administration for one primary reason: as a reward for supporting him early. Loyalty is all in the Trump administration.

Having a friend in China does not qualify you to be ambassador, even if that friend is Xi Jingping. Branstad is nowhere near the level of professionalism of recent China ambassadors the US has done. If knowing someone in a foreign country is qualifications for ambassadorship, I should be named ambassador to Britain because I lived there for much of my life and am married to a Brit, but I didn't support Donald Trump early on, so fat chance for me.

Given you're so quick to chastise others for not doing their research, you might want to do some research on Xi Jingping. He may smile nice and look like a nice man, but he is to China in many ways what Vladimir Putin is to Russia. Xi Jingping is corrupt and Donald Trump is corrupt. Having Branstad as a conduit between the two is no reassurance, particularly given how the Chinese government is already rewarding the corrupt Trump family.
