A South Korean nongovernmental organization has sent letter of request calling for an immediate ban on sales of items designed with the Rising Sun Flag to global e-commerce platform operators including Amazon, Google, and Wish.

It's a way past my bed time so hopefully I can articulate my thoughts well enough to at least help you see where I'm coming from.

Yes, the Rising Sun symbolizes Japan, but it also symbolizes oppression and hatred. although it is not being widely recognized or being identified as a symbol of hatred yet, it is to those who fell victim to Japanese Army because it was used as a flag of war, and is still being used by Japanese self defense force.

Now, the Swastika is just a religious symbol to most of those countries occupied by Japan (including Japan), but at least most of people in those countries are educated enough to know what it means to those who fell victim to Nazi and realize it not okay to flag it around even though it's just a religion symbol.

Although I don't think they have done a great job, what SK NGO is trying to do at least trying to bring some awareness (?) that it's not okay.

Because it's okay with you or some others, doesn't mean it's okay with millions of people living in the other side of the world.

That being said, you seems recognize "Germany still using many symbols/insignia the Nazis used in the war" is wrong, and those symbols have been already identified as symbols of hatred, unlike the Rising Sun.
