Southgate confirms he had coronavirus last month after Piers Morgan criticism of England manager

In 2002 his newspaper (daily mirror) hacked Milly dowlers phone while she was missing.

He knew how to hack phones because he wrote about it in his 2005 book and because one of his old Irish papers had written about how easy it had been to hack the Irish prime minister's phone to let people know that they were at risk.

He admits that he knew about a "slew of stories" which were to be published, some in his newspaper some in others, that was caught on tape.

He claims it never happened at his paper but all the evidence seems to disagree, as stated by the judge in the Leveson inquiry who said that the evidence proved Morgan knew it was happening.

Even if it was true that all he knew about phone hacking was, "that it was rumoured to happen", it was his duty as editor to be sure that his journalists were within the law
