You’re talking about Stalin’s regime as if that is what describes all of Communism. Lenin specifically asked for Stalin not to take his roll when he died. Communist all around reddit denounce authoritarian and imperialist regimes. We do not support authoritarian or imperialist regimes that hide under the names of their movements. Most of us don’t support these people and only take from Marx’s work which states NO WHERE to murder your people and commit executions. Communism is the result of capitalism failing its citizens. DPRK is not a democracy, the Nazi Socialist Workers Party we’re not socialists. USSR and China had/have a private industry and private land right along with other free trade. Most communists see this as economically going against Marx’s writings and do not support those countries. We use the hammer and sickle to represent the working majority coming together to take down the 1% and have an economically equal country. We do not use it as an homage to the USSR.
