[SP] They didn't kidnap you. They're not holding you against your will. They're very friendly actually. There's simply no way out.

“Good morning!” It was a stupid thing to say but I said it anyways. It made this place feel a little more normal. The fat one looked over at me and smiled. He turned to the thin one and let out a chorded melody. The thin one replied with a multi-note tune of her own and went on her business. She was always so busy in the morning.
I sat in my couch and looked out the window at the strange vehicles whizzing through and around buildings. It was far more interesting than anything on TV. There was no pattern to the language of my roommates and I gave up trying to learn it a long time ago.
The thin one rushed through the wall and disappeared. It blew my mind when I first saw it happen, but now? Eh, old news. I still can’t figure out how they do it but like their language, it’s something I stopped trying to learn. What did it matter anyways? I’d get killed if I went outside. Its absolutely nuts out there. There’s just no understanding this world. You can only do your best to get use to it.
Was that the noise? Oh shit, was it? I looked over at the fat one. He was looking at me and repeated the melody I looked forward to hearing every day. It was breakfast! I got up from the couch and sat down at the table. The fat one placed my usual dish in front of me. I had no clue what the stuff was but it tasted pretty good. You definitely got used to it after a while. I wolfed it down while the fat one giggled at how I ate. He fed me every day and got a kick out of it every time. Sometimes he’d place little gold nuggets of what could only be described as manna from heaven in my food and would audibly laugh when he saw my face light up when I discovered them. I’m not stupid though. I’ll definitely ham it up if it makes him happy. I want to encourage him because, my god, those nuggets are delicious!

No such luck this morning though.
I reached for the water dispenser and pulled it to me. It was the one familiar thing here, drinking water. I guess my hosts drank water as well. It was a bit boring, I was hoping to try their version of a cocktail but whatever. Water got the job done. I greedily gulped it down and wiped my face with my arm and gave an exaggerated “Ahhhh” that one does when they drink water. The fat one cracked up. Not bad, not bad. Maybe he’d get lucky with the nuggets at dinner? I smiled warmly at him, watching him laugh. You could almost call him cute. While watching him chuckle, an image flashed into my brain like a lightning strike. My stomach lurched into my throat and I nearly gasped in shock. It was a human woman in a nightgown and she was laughing. A sweet laugh. I love that laugh. God, it sounded so good. The room she was in was completely normal with a blue king size bed standing in contrast to the brown hardwood floor. White walls were covered with my drawings and sketches. Many were of Emma who currently laughing at the joke I just told. Sun was filtering through an oak tree outside. It was morning and I was coming back to bed after starting the coffee. Luna was curled up in Emma’s lap and Emma was petting her fur softly, right behind her ear. The fat one’s multi-tone laughter had stopped. I had to blink a few times and get my bearings. The fat one was staring at me with a look of concern on his face. I forced myself to smile at him. Come on, back to happy feelings. “I’m ok, fat one, it’s all good.” I said as reassuringly as I could. It was a lie. Who was she? I mean, I know she was Emma, but who was she? She was so beautiful. Much to the fat one’s dismay, I left the table and went back to my chair. I sat and stared outside, my eyes not focusing on anything. The fat one rubbed my back for a second and walked away. The hosts were so touchy feely but It never really made me feel uncomfortable. If I’m being honest, it was really nice. The glass in front of my face fogged up and I exhaled through my mouth. What the fuck was that memory? It was home, I know it and that was Emma and Luna. It was my real home, where I belong. There’s nothing else it could be. It felt so comfortable and normal. I let my forehead thud against the glass. A vehicle nearly collided with another one and they flashed at each other and made a hilarious dinging noise. This was my life, but that was my life If that other place was really home, then where the fuck was I now? The skin of my forehead peeled from the glass when I finally moved my head away. There was probably a large red splotch on my face where the window pressed into it. I couldn’t stop thinking about Emma. It was just so vivid. The fat one scratched the back of my neck. This time it wasn’t comforting. It was alien. Where the fuck am I? Hot tears filled by eyes. I looked back at the fat one’s concerned expression. I can’t cry in front of them, they always get so worried. “I’m sorry friend” I said, sniffling. I talked to them sometimes. Sometimes they seemed to like it, other times they’d get annoyed. I could tell the fat one was in a good mood so I went for it. “I don’t think I belong here. I’m just going to say it: this… place, it isn’t my place, you understand? That’s why I’m like this. I just don’t know anymore. You get me, don’t you?” Of course he didn’t. I turned back towards the window and looked out over the city. I sat like that, ignoring the fat one until the thin one came home. She walked through the solid wall and was just there. Man, I’ll never get used to that. The fat one let out a happy chord and they embraced. The thin one patted my head gently and I looked back to smile at her. The thin one’s face. Holy shit. Emma’s cold foot touched my leg. The moonlight specked the hardwood floor of my bedroom but that was all I could make out in the darkness. i could hear Emma lightly snoring next to me, just out of sight. Luna gave the smallest of barks and whimpered as she dreamed of chasing squirrels in the dog park. I decided the noise that woke me up was no big deal and I pulled myself close to Emma, her naked torso pressed against my bare chest. It felt so nice to hold her and drift off to sleep. Something wasn’t right though. I peeked over Emma’s body and there, looking over the edge of my bed, I could just make it out in the shadows… it was the thin one. She was smiling at us laying there, slowly easing her way onto the bed. I screamed, Emma screamed and Luna started barking. The fat one took the storage containers that the thin one brought from the outside world. I couldn’t stop staring. It couldn’t be. It was as real as the first memory earlier that day. The thin one had definitely been there, crawling onto my bed. I couldn’t eat that night. The food was too bizarre. The thin one. Was it really her? She was right there! It had to have been a shadow, it was really dark. Her face though, it was unmistakable! I couldn’t stop staring even though they were getting suspicious. I didn’t care anymore. I needed answers.
“God damn it you bastards!” I said to my hosts sitting across from me “what the fuck did you do to Emma? Where is she? What the fuck were you doing in my house? Please tell me. Come on, I deserve to know, right?” here came the sobs. Tears were pouring from my eyes, blurring my vision. I got up from the table and curled up on the mat I slept on at night. I laid there all evening and late into the night. Sleep did not come easy that night. All I could picture was the tiny one, crawling up onto my bed. The bed I shared with Emma. The next morning I woke up and went to my window. I sat in my chair and I waited for breakfast. The fat one called me over and I was delighted to find my dish stacked high with those golden nuggets I loved so much. The fat one smiled warmly at me and pushed the dish closer to me. There was no telling me twice, I was starving!
