Spain brought their religion to the Philippines. We all know it was used to control us. This was common among the historical leaders as it would provide soft power, go under our radar. Fast forward to now, the religion is still around. Our culture even sprouted that infamous Inglesia ni Cristo.

I mean yes but let's not downplay the atrocities of the Spaniards. Spaniards were first to colonise the island territories and used the churches as strategic landmarks so that they could better reinforce the idea of a united people so that the island politics at the time had every tribe warring against each other weakening them enough for the Spanish to take over. The US took over and did the same while also building upon the re-education of the tribes to fit a western ideology that promoted a friendlier white washed watered down version of history while also continuing to build the military bases that the Spaniards would have built had they not sold the Philippines to America.

It was the American General that told his soldiers to kill any Filipinos over the age of 10.

It was the Spaniards who's torture and silencing/intimidation tactics on the Filipinos that Hitler adopted into Mein Kampf.
