Spanish prime minister calls for second Brexit vote

There isn't any paramilitary force in Spain.

As far as I know, Spanish citizens are free to renounce their Spanish citizenship whenever they please.

I am extremely critical of how the previous Spanish government dealt with this issue, but if your question boils down to "should the state intervene to ensure that citizens are not stripped of their rights arbitrarily?" my answer is of course affirmative.

The pro-independence parties got 47% of the vote in the last regional elections. Think about how you might feel if you were part of the other 53% and saw your regional government trample all laws and use all the resources in this mad quest.

It is not even about independence per se. For some weeks in 2017, it looked like Catalonia was on the brink of a real internal conflict.
