Speaking of records, here is a wrestler Great Gama who had not lost once in about 5,000 matches

Another excerpt:

Being the only wrestler who has never lost a bout on record in wrestling and one of the four gods of wrestling rated by historians, he is a legend not as well known as he should be, probably for he did not wrestle much in U.S.A taking only on Benjamin Roller, who was the only person who came forward to take his challenge.

He challenged the Indian Wrestling Champion at the age of 19, already establishing himself as a Strongman doing feats of strength and stamina drawing with the middle aged champion 7 feet champion after a tough fight. He went on to defeat all other challengers for the number one contender ship and went on to etch his name in the world wrestling history by choosing to take part in John Bull Tournament under the patronage of his promoter Benjamin.

He issued a open challenge to the then legends, Frank Gotch and Stanislaus Zbyzsko for Georg Hackenschmidt had already been beaten and declined his challenge. His bout with Stanislaus Zbyzsko was controversial for Zbyszko was thrown within a minute but chose to hug the mat nullifying the offense of Gama ending in a draw. A rematch, where Zbyzsko never showed up, gave Gama the John Bull Belt. He had earlier finished off well known American wrestler Benjamin Roller within ten minutes of their match. The John Bull belt gave him the authority to call himself the Champion of the World for he had beaten wrestlers from England, France, U.S, Sweden, Switzerland among other countries that was represented; something in parallel to Frank Gotch's world title but based out of England.

He issued a open challenge again to Frank Gotch (World Champion from U.S), Georg Hackenschmidt (Russian Bear), Taro Miyaki (Japanese Judo legend) but got no reply. He came back to India and went on to defeat his pending conquest, the Indian Champion in a grueling match completing his run with only Zbyzsko able to claim a draw. This was quickly settled in a rematch in which Zbyzsko was folded too quickly giving raise to accusations of work. For his last international bout, he took the challenge of Swedish World Champion for a rematch which he won quickly before effectively retiring.

To his credit, his challenge to Frank Gotch and Georg Hackenschmidt was never answered and he had beaten every other wrestler he had ever faced. He was a inspiration and role model to many legends including Bruce Lee, who took the Hindu or Tiger push ups and Hindu Squats, credited by Gama as the workout that helped him build and augment his strength, added it to his regimen.
