The Italians were put into camps, and forced into military service. It didn't happen on nearly the same scale as what the Japanese went through.

But my great grandfather was forced to sell his house and enlist, even though he was in his 40's at the time. (I don't know all the details because my great-grandmother either illegally divorced my great-grandfather or convinced him she'd divorced him, while my grandfather was a toddler. And then she told Grandpa his dad was deported, and scared the rest of the family into backing the lie up. So the only information I have is from what my mom's managed to dig up, and what my grandfather's half brother (who grandpa didn't know about until his mid 80's) remembers from his early childhood.)
