Special shout out to this man now that he revealed he’s been fighting Dumb & Dumber about his character for years while still playing him flawlessly. Thank you Nikolaj...

You are completely ignoring what I'm trying to say in order to justify not looking into the sources which I've provided to explain to you not the points that I did make, but the single question that you asked which I did not feel qualified to answer. This thread did not begin with that question, it is utter bullshit to tie my answering of that one question into everything which I have said in this thread and discard all of it because of my honesty in not being able to answer your question properly.

Do you really fucking think I need any of what you've said explained to me? Do my other comments give you the impression that I am not an academic and that I do not know how to write and argue for a thesis? Do not belittle me intelligence with your "thesis 101" bullshit. It's not wrong, but you should damn well know better then to be condescending like that when I have given every reason to believe that I am aware of how academic arguments work.

First off: This is not an academic essay. I am not a professor in a lecture hall, nor a student writing a paper. This is a casual internet discussion, which I like to insert academic theories into casual discussion to help spread awareness of them and practice my own knowledge and interpretations of them. Thus, when I hit a wall, I say: I unno. Cause I unno everything, and I'm not going to drop everything to do research just to answer your one question.

Secondly: you're seriously complaining about me being honest in saying I don't know how to properly express a thing? Well, you're also twisting "I'm not sure I can do these theories Justice" with "I can't back up my claims." I could back them up - I am choosing not to because I do not want to unintentionally provide you with an incorrect idea. These are fucking complicated theories that touch on the core ways in which our societies operate and how people interact with society in defining themselves and defining others and in being defined by others.

So: I have literally made no claim that I did not back up. The single thing which I said I was unable to answer I directed you towards sources which I felt could answer it. I LITERALLY AM NOT MAKING AN ASSERTION, so how could I be asking you to accept it at face value?

Fuck off, it is not anti-academic to admit when I don't know something so well that I feel like I can be an educator on the subject. I am literally acknowledging the limits of my in-depth knowledge, and rather than pretending to be an expert, or making my best attempt at explaining things, I am showing you where the answers you seek are.

Academia is community, people do different fields because things are far too complex for any one person to have an in-depth knowledge on more than a handful of things. My background is in History and Cultural Anthropology - two fields which heavily intersect with feminist theory, and which are heavily influenced by Foucault, but have their own focus, of which I have a great deal of knowledge on specific sub focuses, a good grasp on the general focus, and a passing knowledge of the relevant intersections with other fields.

Every other thing I've said in this thread falls under that passing knowledge. It's all actually quite basic feminist theory and understandings of reality. But you asked a question which I feel falls under Feminism's focus, of which I am aware, but, one last time, simply don't feel qualified to answer, as I am not an expert on it, but I have given you examples of people who are.

And no matter what else the point remains that you are making excuses to not read. You are arguing with someone about why it's ok for you to not pick up a book and educate yourself. Despite literally having an unanswered question which could be answered by reading those books. I guess you're just ok with having that question unanswered, because no. I'm not going to do extra research for the point of answering a single question on a Reddit thread - I have enough on my reading list already and, beyond that, it would take a little bit at least for me to get access to the materials through which I could expand and refine my knowledge on the matter.

So thank you. Your question revealed to me where my knowledge ends, and now I know that I have a weak point that I will one day get around to fixing, because it does matter to me to know these fundamental theories on a level where I can explain them to strangers on the internet. I am going to take this conversation and learn from it.

What are you going to do with it?
