You don't need to grind to grind. Once you get a business or a warehouse, you can sort of relax a little bit and take breaks from grinding. Get some friends to play with helps.

I had lots of fun doing contact missions, then I got my first drug business and bought supplies for it. I just did whatever I felt like whilst that was working and resupplied as necessary. Since I got past the initial grind (contact missions to money earning property) I've hardly grinded much and I own basically everything. Granted, I have played for 1800hours, but I've enjoyed most of it.
