Short version, the regular season record doesn't really matter for Worlds....only playoff performance. Win summer playoff, reach further than any other team in the two playoffs, or go to the gauntlet. Season helps you get further with byes and seeding but isn't worth any actual points. TSM only has to worry about TL catching them in points since C9 scrubbed out. Fnatic has to worry about H2K and UOL.

Longer version. if Fnatic win the playofs, they're in. If they lose but earn a lot of season points, they're in. Same boat as TSM there. But, if they lose in the quarters they could get leapfrogged by a team in the season points. TSM doesn't have to worry about C9 getting past them since C9 scrubbed out in the split. Only TL can catch them now, and Liquid has to get into the finals but then lose to need to use their points. That's a specific case for sure so TSM has to either one more more series or if TL beats TSM then TL needs to take the whole thing. If either of those happen TSM is in. Only the TL win next week then both lose the next week scenarios keep out TSM.

Fnatic also could lose in the semis and have to rely on points but both UOL and H2k have a lot of points from finishing 2nd and 3rd in spring. The tie break is summer points, so if Fnatic loses in the semis, either of those teams could have the tiebreak over Fnatic. Whomever wins between FNC and UOL is auto in. If FNC loses though, then it gets interesting for them. Even if FNC finishes in 3rd, if UOL loses in the finals then UOL will take the points lead invite away. TSM doesn't have to worry about that possibility, if they finish 3rd they lock up the points invite.
