[Spoilers] I did not enjoy the Warcraft movie.

I have been playing WoW on and off since day 1 retail release, Vanilla. I'm not terribly versed with lore, but I've picked up an average amount of it through the years. I walked into the Warcraft movie absolutely bubbling with excitement.

That being said, I was very, very much disappointed with the Warcraft movie. There were so few battle scenes compared to the constant RP we had to sit through - I was constantly waiting for the movie to drum up the anticipation, but it was as if we sat through scene after scene of characters talking. There was very little 'war' in Warcraft. And of the fight scenes that we saw, the entire time I was just thinking "this is what a 160 million dollar budget produces"? I mean, humans were parrying orcs - gargantuan beasts vastly outsizing and overpowering them. Much of the swordplay did not look organic.

There were so many rapid switches between orc and human stories. We got a nice look at Ironforge for all of one scene in the very beginning lasting a few minutes, and no - we didn't actually see Ironforge. We saw the middle of the city, and barely any of it. Most of it was zoomed to the characters. And oh, the grand city of Stormwind - how big! We had the pleasure of seeing only a sky-shot of the entire city. The rest was in the barracks (one scene), king's room (a few scenes), and the war room ( a few scenes). Where the hell is the rest of Stormwind and Ironforge?

I just could not help but feel like I was watching a D-list cliche Wizards & Warriors movie, no matter how much I wanted to love the movie. I absolutely love World of Warcraft, and I wanted to enjoy the movie, so much.

And Medivh - at what point did he get corrupted by the Fel? When he 'traveled to a far away land' or whatever he said? We were supposed to extract it from that? Oh, yeah, Karazhan - we didn't see some grand, mysterious library. We saw two rooms - one at the bottom of a spiral of stairs, and one at the top of said spiral of stairs. There is just so much missing - so much failing to draw me in.

Did I mention the rapid switches between Orc and Human storylines? Alright, we must kill Gul'dan - oh, now we're travelling through Deadwind Pass or something. Oh, and when whoever the hell was friendly with the Frostwolves was making his way to save Draka, he fought off like 3 or 4 orcs on his way to save her - the wife of the chieftain. She practically wasn't in danger given the paltry amount of orcs supposedly there to wipe out the Frostwolves and suppress the mutiny.

And when the hell did the orcs bury themselves in the meeting place? When have orcs ever done that (Apologies if they have - I don't know). But just how in the hell did the orcs know that meeting was going to happen there, and had time to bury themselves in the rock?

There was just such a myriad of scenes that I struggled to understand, or even be entertained by. I was most disappointed by an epic fight scene. There was just not an epic fight scene. There were fight scenes of grand scale - sure, but not once was I amped up, into the fight scene.

Sorry if this is all disorganized - I am just pouring my frustrations out. I just vehemently disliked the Warcraft movie.I have been playing WoW on and off since day 1 retail release, Vanilla.
