tl;dr: too many words, skip 'em. I like the book better but they're differet anyway.

It isn't better. It can't be, it's much too different. It is separate, it's own thing. I loved it. It was a great episode of the show. But the show is the...yada. It's a totally different thing though. They are telling different stories.

They wrote an episode where the WW attack a village by the sea while Jon is here trying to rescue fairly well-organized Wildlings. The battle takes 10 minutes and they sail away,finally bringing a significant number of Wildlings through the Wall.

Book? Hardhome is being harassed by whatever over a period of time. The place has been taken advantage of by slavers, the weather has been bad, ships have been lost, and still they come... Dead things in the water.

Not the same, but I'd take he book version.
