I don’t think they are alike, I think Rhaenyra is a much better character and far more well rounded.

Dany was interesting up until the “Mhysa” moment. I think she became sure of herself and started to view everything she does as infallible. When it was mostly D & D writing her, she became the textbook “yaas qween” character. Every moment was “badass” and showed how tough/cool she was. She was doing stuff that pleased modern audiences but in their world was politically stupid. I wasn’t even surprised when she revealed her true colors because she already was the type to do cruel acts in the name of good, then decides how to define good.

Rhaenyra seems like an actual human. She is kind of spoiled and makes a lot of mistakes in her youth. But she also has a strong spirit and tries to do the right thing even when it goes against the morality of their world. She allows Laenor to live as he sees fit, even if it creates a massive heir problem. She is a good mother to her kids and they turn out as decent humans. When she ascends, she tries to negotiate with the Greens and keep things peaceful as long as she can.

If you are referring to the books, then disregard this post, both Dany and Rhaenyra are different and I’d be more inclined to agree with you about Dany.
