[Spoilers] Laurel in S7

For me it's not so much that she couldn't pull off the ruse of being a lawyer convincingly enough to be the DA. My issue is that she still masquerading as E1 Laurel and living E1 Laurel's life and not building a life for herself.

And why would the FBI and ARGUS knowingly allow a violent killer and fraud be the DA? It would automatically call into question any and all convictions during her tenure, which wouldn't exactly reflect well on Quentin, which I assume is the whole point of her continuing the charade

I may be wrong and the writers will surprise me but IMO approaching it this way seems like a cheap way to avoid delving into BS character and giving her a semblance of depth. How are they going to give her any depth if she's constantly pretending to be someone else? How are they going to distinguish in the writing which decisions are because of BS thoughts and character and which are simply because she thinks that is how E1 Laurel would have acted/ reacted?
