Do Spoilers Ruin Stories?

I used to not care about spoilers. I would actively look them up to see if the story was any good. But I noticed that it's much more fun to experience a game or tv-show without knowing what's going to happen.

I am gonna use my favorite anime, Attack on Titan, for an example. I watched the first season without knowing what was going on. It was super exciting and I was on the edge of my seat almost every episode. Season 2 is now airing and I have already read all the spoilers about the story a year ago (I wouldn't have done that if there wasn't a 4 YEAR GAP between season 1 and 2) and even tho I am still enjoying this season, I don't have that certain "OMG WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?" feeling anymore because I already know what is going to happen.

I don't mind spoilers for a game where I don't care about it's story. I played Rise of the Tomb Raider a few weeks ago and I didn't give a shit about it's story, because I knew it would be mediocre. But I am playing Nier: Automata right now and I've luckily only read a few light spoilers, nothing really big. I think the story is great so far and I hope I can finish the game without being spoiled.
