Is squid game hypocritical?

I don't know if I'd use the term "hypocritical."

You could convince me there's a touch of irony involved but not in any meaningful or avoidable way.

But let's be clear, Squid Game is a piece of entertainment first and foremost.

The people who wrote it, directed it, acted in it, all already do these things. It's their career. They are going to continue to do their jobs and make art/entertainment and part of their motivation is surely fame and money.

So it's not hypocritical for them to use their existing skillsets and careers to maybe send a message as well.

Let's look at the alternative:

How do you distribute your anti-capitalist film without using a mega company? How do you get people to pay attention without making a good product using the actors who are good at their jobs?

You can't use YouTube to distribute. You can't use social media. Hell you can't even burn DvDs without buying them from a mega-corp.
