(Srs) What are some of your actually unpopular opinions?

I hate almost all the inspo albums. 95%+ are uncoordinated and feel like they’ve been made by someone who knows nothing about fashion.. The themes are almost never cohesive. Pieces have nothing in common.

I think Pinterest is part of the problem. It’s where people get outdated fashions and chuck them in the inspo album with a bunch of random stuff they quickly found on urban outfitters/Zara/f21/jcrew to try to make it cohesive. Like good, you like this photo and want to share it but maybe don’t force it. Something can be beautiful without it being inspiring for you or others to try to emulate in your or their own wardrobe.

Inspo albums should have a much narrower focus and should contain pictures from similar sources. You can’t say you’re doing an inspo album for X decade and have pictures from a 20 year range either side of that decade plus also modern day takes on it. Choose one! For me an inspo album should be “here’s an element of style I like. Go with this and create your own modern take on it.”

Also the titles are always ridiculous and inaccurate and suck. And I don’t like the sewing pattern pictures.

The recent ones on southwestern style in the 80s were so frustratingly almost there (there have been at least 2 of them this month). I wish they had slimmed them and been more picky. It’s not just let’s look at old clothes, it’s how can we revisit and emulate these old looks today. Maybe a specific piece or element. So many beautiful pictures in those albums but I couldn’t see the same person wearing all those things. Like choose a character in your head who would have that style and literally only put things in it that they would actually wear.
