Is St. Louis (City) being gentrified? If so, is this good or bad for us?

This is most definitely not NYC, DC, or SF. Nobody is getting evicted or forced out of their homes by dot com gazillionaires and no longtime unique communities are being destroyed by gentrification in STL. Neighborhoods are going the tubes here in STL for any number of other reasons. The only property that is being renovated in STL has either been abandoned or neglected to the point of borderline unsalvageable by absentee landlords. The tax base is going up and at risk neighborhoods are being stabilized.

The term “gentrified” that definitely applies to neighborhoods in trendy and wealthy cities that are riding the rising tide of popularity does not apply to rust belt cities like St. Louis, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati that are struggling keep our heads above water.
