STALKER Anomaly writeup/discussion

I do have some nitpicks about the mod, mainly on the Dynamic Factions addon, though this may be just an isolated case. It seems whenever the faction relations end up changing, I get a CTD. Killing neutral or friendly NPCs is almost completely off-grounds because it crashes the game most of the time for me. This is especially noticeable when taking assassination missions against neutral targets. I took a mission from barkeep to whack some random Clear Sky in the swamp, and when I shot the guy in the face the game crashed immediately.

Even weirder, my faction (Loner) was completely neutral with Clear sky even after multple restarts to check faction relations, but then one restart, Clear Sky decided to declare war on the Loners before I had even done anything. Restarting the game or reloading a save had them remain at war, which I found really strange. I don't attribute it to finicky quicksaving and quickloading because I have autosaves turned off and only have save at campfire enabled.

So, now I'm at war with Clear Sky, and apparently killing loads of them makes Ecologists happy because as soon as I zoned into Yantar, Eco went green, went to war with CS, and there was an all out war between the Clear Sky guarding the base, Ecologists, and zombies.

A few other nitpicks I have which I just choose to ignore is the amazingly bloated fieldstripping(?) system. Not the breaking down of armors with a multitool, as it yields useful materials for patching up suits and weapons out in the field, but the whole barrel kit/vise system. It's very obtuse and almost pointless, when you can just buy a fresh gun after three or four missions instead of using that esoteric crafting system, or just kill a single soldier immediately in Cordon and then take his tricked out Groza and repair it for 6000 RU. I had to deny myself the pleasure of immediately equipping a moderately used Skat-9 and an almost fresh assault rifle because I knew that would just make it too easy to start off with.

I'm actually considering just going back to the basic leather jacket because in just a sunrise suit with steel plates and a gas mask I'm easily taking full bursts from 7.62 rifles to the spine. I'm not talking getting my arm grazed, I'm talking about dudes with cat-like reflexes that somehow manage to sneak up on my ass while I'm scoped and hidden and then unload half a mag into my lumbar from 10 feet away. Granted, it tears the armor to hell but I don't even feel the compulsion to run for cover at this point.
