[Standard] BO3 Golgari Citadel - any tips/feedback?

I’ve played quite a bit of this deck since before the field ban and it absolutely feels powerful, though the final list might vary depending on the meta.

To start off, you definitely want [[llawnowar elves]]. Even if they don’t tap for citadel mana, they can get you there with priest/phyrexian tower. Speaking of which, [[phyrexian tower]] works great with the deck, getting you extra mana or sacrificing something before it’s exiled/claimed.

[[Collected company]] is another blessing for the deck. Being able to deploy threats at instant speed is fantastic, and there are plenty of creatures useful to our gameplan between CMC 1-3. It does make you more vulnerable to cage and can whiff at times, but so far it’s been worth the slots.

Speaking of creatures, here’s the ones that have worked for me:

[[blood artist]]: I run 4 copies of this guy and 2 of bastion, which is plenty of drain effects to get an opponent to 0 even without citadel. With woe strider and/or priest out, the opponent will be under a surprising amount of pressure each turn, even if we don’t see a single citadel.

[[midnight reaper]]: while mainly boardwipe insurance, it can turn our sacs into fuel and keeps our hand full. I run 2 of these, but if the meta turns more towards control it might be correct to run more.

[[jadelight ranger]]: I run this in the visionary slot and it’s been nothing but gas. In the early game it can draw us crucial lands to ramp to Citadel, or be a mid sized body and get information on the top of our deck. Once you’ve landed citadel, it still shines, getting rid of lands or extra copies of citadel off the top so you can get to your combo pieces. Maybe visionary is still worth it for the ramp but I have rarely been in a situation where I am unhappy seeing a jadelight.

Personally I run the full 4x citadel to start, mainly because landing one on turn 3 can win you the game on the spot. Plus with thoughtseize and counterspells running around, having multiple copies isn’t the worst.
