Star Trek Discovery Actor Anthony Rapp: Kevin Spacey Made A Sexual Advance Toward Me When I Was 14

I know people personally who have woken up in a cell and not remembered being arrested, which should be a huge event by your reasoning.

Exactly my point. I agree you can get drunk and not remember. But what you do remember, always, is the fallout, just like your friend. "Oh you remember that time you woke up in a jail cell?" Of course you do. "Yeah, this one time, I got blackout drunk and they said I did XYZ but I don't remember, and then I woke up in a jail cell."

In this case, Spacey is asking us to believe not only that he has no recollection of the actual incident--hitting on a fourteen-year-old boy. But he's also asking us to believe that he doesn't remember the fallout from it, either. That means:

A) Rapp never said anything to anybody at the time, and he's finally opening up after thirty years, or else

B) Rapp did say something to somebody, but Spacey never received any fallout from it, which is why Spacey doesn't remember it. That is an incredible indictment of Hollywood culture that Kevin Spacey, at his level of fame in 1986-87, could command such protection, or else

C) Rapp did say something to somebody, and Spacey did receive some sort of message or confrontation about it afterward, but he has forgotten about the incident since then. That's an incredible indictment of Spacey himself. That's like your friend not remembering breaking the law and also forgetting about waking up in jail the next day, too! The only way your your friend could forget about something like that is if he'd woken up in jail so many times, they all tended to blend together. The only way for Spacey to have done this, Rapp to have complained, Spacey to be confronted, and then Spacey to subsequently forget about the whole incident entirely, is that Spacey has done drunken things like this so many times before, they all tend to blend together.

If none of those options are true, then Spacey is lying, or else Rapp made up the whole thing. Spacey has to hope to god at this point that Rapp says something like, "I never said anything to anybody at the time, and this is the first I'm coming forward with this." Because if he says, "I told people, but nothing was ever done," then Spacey's story is going to unravel very quickly. It either means Spacey is lying or else there are other people complicit that kept the allegations away from Spacey until now.
