'Star Wars' & 'Jurassic World’ Writer Derek Connolly to Write ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Film

I think it's harsh to blame Terrio for BvS. Half the problem with that film is Synder's bizarre cinematic style which you either get or you don't. Gratuitous visuals which ultimately occupy so much of the film that the dialogue and story suffer.

Also at the heart of the problem of the DC films for me is a fundamental misunderstanding at Warner Brothers of the characters and universe they are attempting to portray. They started their franchise with an incredibly dark disaster film to introduce a character that is supposed to represent hope and optimism. At the end of Man of Steel you don't feel inspired by Superman you feel afraid of him. I know they were going for the whole Christ-like angle but it's not original and it's not particularly interesting anymore.

Look at the Captain America films in contrast. They're interesting because we see Steve Rogers trying to reconcile his old-world values with a society that has changed and left him behind. He still fights first-and-foremost for what's right, representing an America of a bygone era which we all still admire despite the fact that reality falls so far short of it. Superman, on the other hand, lays waste to a city and is at least partly at fault for the deaths of countless innocents, but he is able to carry on with a clear conscience. That's not inspirational it's disturbing.

Just one example. Joker is another...

Wonder Woman suggests they are starting to move in the right direction, but I still don't think that film deserved the level of praise it received.
