Starship Troopers is getting a 20th anniversary 4k release

Or a book about selflessness of service and sacrifice for the unit and the whole of humanity.

Putting yourself in a shitty situation with, initially, superficial intentions and realizing that if you want to help shape the world you have to be the kind of person that is willing to serve, serve your unit, your country and eventually by voting, your planet (since it’s one big government).

Federal service and becoming a citizen is (according to the book) a way to weed out people who are making and voting on self serving, greedy, weak policies. Proving that you’re worthy to make decisions by putting yourself in danger comes with perks but also a ton of responsibility. The ability to serve is not denied to anyone, if you have no arms and legs and are blind and mute but can communicate your willingness to serve and become a citizen they will find something for you to realistically do, doesn’t have to be military.
