starting auto tech classes, what tools do you recommend? have a socket set, what brand torque wrench, ratchet wrench sets do you guys recommend?

Well posting to this sub was a good idea eh?

"I'm starting a college class and don't have a lot of money what should I buy"?

"Bla bla buy the most expensive tools there are".

Sorry I can't help OP I'm in the UK, here we have a really good set of tools from a company called Halfords who do a seriously impressive full socket set ranging from £60 to £300 depending on how many tools you want.

But yeah, does the college not advise what you will need? I would suggest at the very minimum you want a good sized socket set, a set of screw drivers and a set of spanners (wrenches) and a set of picks. I would expect the college to provide near everything else and if you turn up with that it's not like they could have expected you to know what else you needed.

Those can be had very cheaply for reasonable quality tools. Hopefully someone will come along soon and advise where these can be obtained in the US. Usually the stores sites like these love to smash (like Harbour Frieght I guess?) will have a premium brand that will still not be super high quality but they will do a job for you and won't break in ten minutes.

Good luck!
