Yes, but this isn't a one-off attempt. /u/pmoehrin isn't creating these multi-colored lists by hand every single day, he's created a set of rules which he believes generates the most accurate outcomes. He's laid out his methodology at the hardball times. When he says " no real sample size to clue me in" he's talking about the formula. It's fair to critique the output (as the original guy did) without getting hot in the collar.

It's not really "doubling down" for pointing out this is a tough question. This comment might make some sense if you had asked him straight up if one offered an alternative output for the Rangers' outfield generated by hand and that had been aggressively dismissed (remember he's generating the entire team not just left field in isolation). Also note that Francoeur is described as a "CO" not a left fielder.
