Starting October 2020, your standard Washington state driver’s license will no longer get you through airport security

There will be no grace period. Being turned away by TSA will be an expensive lesson, but it should be a lesson that most people don't have to learn, and those who do have to learn it should only have to learn once.

At this point, I think it's damn-near impossible to have NOT seen like 100 warnings about it. They've been advertising Oct 2020 as the date of the change for over a year now, and until all drivers licenses are enhanced IDs by default, there's always going to be people who claim ignorance of the rules. Any "grace period" won't solve that. When I worked at Blockbuster, we always told people their movies were due at noon and still had people turning them in late, saying they thought they were due back at whatever time would have made their movies not late.
