Starting today, 1 in 5 Americans lives in a state where recreational Marijuana use is legal

Well, I mean, America is a world power and cannabis is a cash crop with a massive worldwide market. Any time that much money is involved - coming in or going out - it's going to have an effect on the global economy to some degree. It's fair to say other countries are watching.

It'll be interesting to watch it unfold.

Not sure how it stands at the moment, but when the first US states legalized, Jamaica began pushing for reform legislation.

Mexico will be effected . . . and, uh, we'll leave it at that.

Amsterdam's long-standing drug policies didn't change the world, but govts, news orgs and citizens everywhere have always paid attention. When they were having the weed-related border disputes, American news was all over it. We barely cover foreign elections! LOL

In fact, I bet the average American teen could tell you more about Amsterdam than any other European city except maybe London. Maybe.

US teen: Be cool, Brad! Say spliff. That's what they call them here!

I can only imagine any number of British youths are making their Vegas plans as we speak.

Brit teen: Be cool, Angus! Say stank. That's what they call it here!

I'm just pointing out that it's a spectacularly popular subject with far-reaching economic and social impact.

Weed, bringing nations together! <tear in eye>

If I can remember what I'm looking for long enough I'll be back with an article on Jamaica.
