Ambien is no joke. My mom knows a guy who took his Ambien one night and got up in the middle of the night and blew half his head off. He's still alive obviously, but he had no recollection of doing it.

I also got my first (of 2) OWI/DUI from Ambien. First time taking it. It was 8am and I hadn't slept all night. As soon as I took it I realized I was almost out of cigarettes, so I decided to go get some before it kicked in. The gas station was only about 5 blocks away. I had no idea it takes effect in like 10-15 minutes. I assumed I had a good 30 minutes before anything happened. Halfway there (took a slightly longer route cause I loved driving) everything gets all fucky. Seeing double of every car on the road, and the road was diagonal. Then I black out and come to with police everywhere and a truck in front of me that I rear ended. Driver of the truck was the doctor who did my physical for high school. He was super cool about it and even shook my hand IIRC. His truck didn't have a scratch, thankfully, but my hood and headlight were fucked. Anyway they drug tested me at jail, and I was 2 nanograms over the detectable limit for THC cause I smoked a week prior.

So that's how I got my first OWI a decade ago. It took a few years after that before I started getting my shit together.
