Staying in Eureka for a few days in April

Ya, one look at the news content, and the contact page, should tell anyone it's legit news. Apparently they misunderstood a section of the FAQ page:

Is it a news site?

Sometimes. Most of the time, probably.

The 'sometimes' refers to the fact they publish a lot more than traditional news (editorial cartoons, opinion pieces, obits, etc.).

I e-mailed LocO, which quickly ammended the FAQ to answer this question:

So you’re saying that it’s a FAKE NEWS site?

But the mods were not moved. They actually googled the same story at the North Coast Journal and suggested I submit it instead. Like, they took the time to do that instead of looking at LoCO to realize it's legit?

And then one of them mentioned they're volunteers. Man, I've volunteered for 20 years and not once did I make excuses that it's understandable I screwed up because I'm not being paid.

I've seen the same attitude toward mistakes in the HSU Lumberjack when they make a blunder. One time the editor wrote that's why it's a student newspaper, so they can make mistakes before they enter the real world. What? You're publishing a newspaper and people are reading it. That's the real world.

Sorry, that's quite the rant. I got caught up in a back-and-forth with the mods this morning. I felt like I was banging my head against a wall.
