Steam description freaked me out, need advice

In short, it gets pretty dark but extreme things like the one you mentioned are almost never shown, the only exception off the top of my head are two quests in Act 4, a quest about a "helpful aasimar" and a quest for the companion named Arueshalae. But unless you make choices that lead you towards evil (like becoming a Lich or Demon), you are never forced to participate and most of the time you can be the one to save people from such situations or at least help them in the aftermath.

The only major child abuse element is the backstory of one of the companion, an elven girl who survived being burned at the stake, but you dont witness it yourself and its not brought up vividly. There is also some burried far into one (or two, but not sure about the second one) other companion's questline, but its not described in detail.

By far the most messed up content is the leadup and eventual transformation into the Swarm mythic path, but you have to actively try to achieve that.
