What was your completion percentage? Hollow knight is absolutely jam-packed with content but its all about exploration, so you really have to look for it. The game has a total completion of 112% including a "true" boss, an endgame boss rush area where you can also fight bosses individually (assuming you found them all) in new arenas and try them hitless, and 5 different endings and thats where the real challenge in hollow knight lies. There is also a very well hidden really difficult platforming area which does not count towards completion.

I clocked in at around 45 hours doing everything on the map and beating the true boss which was around 107% iir, and that was with beating most bosses first try and minimal backtracking. And the endgame boss rush area doubled that playtime, theres a lot of bang for your buck in this game.
