SteamVR compatibility woes.

I think it's because it is way easier to make a game that uses the SteamVR API work on oculus, than it is to make an Oculus game that uses only the Oculus API work on the Vive.

Well one dev was able to add this wrapper over a year ago and while working for free, I would think a whole team of paid devs could do the same.

It might also have legal consequences for Valve if they would develop something like Revive themselves.

This is really the only reason that I could see as an excuse, but then you have the fact that Oculus deliberately and vocally stopped trying to kill Revive so that is questionable. Moreover this would not be a system that allows Vive users to play Rift games, it is merely adding compatibility for games on their store to their products.
